Mrs. Lockwood was ecstatic. Her son was incredible!
No wonder this old scumbag had come crawling back. It was all because of her son, Terence.
Mrs. Lockwood looked at Edgar. “I was wondering why you were suddenly helping Grace deal with that woman from your past. It turns out you’re afraid of Terence’s power. Well, Terence has always been a devoted son. He would never let you get away with bullying his grandmother. Your businesses in Marentis are on the line now.”
As if on cue, Edgar’s phone rang. His businesses in Marentis were taking a massive hit, with clients canceling contracts one after another.
A cold knot of dread tightened in Edgar’s chest. He looked at Grace. “We were married once. What happened back then was a moment of folly, but I regret it now. When I came back and saw how hard your life has been, I truly regretted it. For the sake of our past, please ask Terence to go easy on us.”
Grace looked at Edgar and said, “Impossible. You and all those people with you deserve to pay!”
Mrs. Lockwood had been afraid Grace might soften, but hearing her words, she was instantly relieved. “Harrison, see him out immediately! And make sure he never sets foot on this property again.”
Edgar screamed at the top of his lungs, “I am the head of the Lockwood family! I am the patriarch!”
But what good did it do?
Mrs. Lockwood took Grace’s hand. “Mom, are you feeling unwell anywhere?”
Mrs. Lockwood was worried the shock would be too much for Grace’s heart.
Grace looked at her daughter-in-law. “You were worried about my health, that’s why you never told me the truth, right? Or perhaps you did tell me, and I was just confused.”
Mrs. Lockwood said, “It’s okay, Mom. No matter what, the important thing is that everything is okay now.”
