Could his act be any less convincing?
Natalie could tell that Terence was saying it on purpose.
"Mr. Lockwood, your performance of 'pity' is a little half-hearted."
"Is it? I tried my best to look like I cared."
Natalie fell silent.
"The one paying the money doesn't care, so what are you worried about?"
Even though he had a point, it still felt wrong.
"You won the international mathematics competition. You've more than earned a place at Patrick's institute. Don't give up such a great opportunity. You were meant to be an eagle soaring in the sky; don't cage yourself."
Listening to Terence, Natalie suddenly felt as if a beam of light was shining down on her. It was an indescribable feeling, but it was warm and bright.
Then Terence said, "Give me your phone for a second."
Before Natalie could react, Terence had taken her phone and replied to the message.
"Please arrange for my start date."
Watching as Terence sent the acceptance message for her, Natalie felt a mix of emotions, but gratitude was the strongest among them.
Meanwhile, Patrick was nervously waiting for Natalie's reply on the other end.
His heart was in his throat. Natalie had been considering for so long, and he was afraid she would refuse him again.
Just then, a reply came through.
[Please arrange for my start date.]
Her start date? Natalie was willing to join his institute.
