Victoria grabbed Darren’s arm, hitting and scolding him.
Her words made the heavy dread in Darren’s heart even worse.
So, Natalie had understood that there was nothing between him and Marie, but she had held onto it anyway. Was it because she wanted to run into Terence’s arms?
She was truly ruthless.
Just then, Marie rushed into the room.
“Mom, I heard you fainted. I came as soon as I could to see you.”
Seeing Marie, Victoria immediately grabbed her hand, her voice filled with despair. “Marie, the Cross Group is finished. Please, I’m begging you. Please save the Cross Group.”
Victoria clung to Marie’s hand. Right now, her daughter-in-law was the Cross family’s only lifeline.
Marie feigned reluctance. “Mom, I’m not part of the Cross family anymore. In what capacity could I possibly help the Cross Group?”
Darren stood rigidly, his face grim.
Victoria turned on him furiously. “Aren’t you going to apologize to Marie? Do you have any idea how much she has sacrificed for this family? And you dared to kick her out? You’re a blind fool! Do you think you could have managed the Cross Group all these years without her?”
Marie was thrilled inside but put on a passive-aggressive tone. “Darren has also worked very hard for the Cross Group these past five years. He’s the one who stabilized the company. It has little to do with me. I just helped out a bit.”
“You’re still defending him? Do you think I don’t know his capabilities? Before his brother passed away, all he did was race cars. What does he know about running a business?
