Blizzard First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps novel Chapter 444

“Even with insurance coverage, it would still be a huge expense for the people here.”

The man sipped his tea without a word. But his expression told her she was right.

Isabel continued, “My friend here has immense wealth. I received half of Adrian’s fortune, and with his subsequent investments, I have more than enough to fund my research. I don’t deny that there will be test subjects for data collection, but it’s all part of the standard process. There’s nothing illegal involved, and arrangements are always made based on each individual’s specific situation.”

“Because later, if we are to research hereditary cancers, we will need to collect their physiological data. You’ll need to explain this to them.”

“Most importantly, nothing will be forced. I developed this drug to save lives, but I’m not a saint who will treat them regardless of their gratitude. It’s entirely voluntary. If they trust it, they can take it. If not, so be it.”

With that, Isabel stood up and pulled Evelyn toward the door.

Daniel left a document on the table. “This is from Mr. Blackwell, to put your mind at ease.”

The man opened it and glanced inside, his surprise evident. “He’s really gone to extremes for his wife.”

That’s what happens when you’re the one who messed up in the first place, he thought. Now he’s trying everything to make up for it.

But it’s useless. She won’t appreciate it.

Daniel didn’t comment on that. “We’re not irreplaceable, you know. Let’s skip the power plays in the future. If you don’t want to be part of this network, we’ll find someone to replace you.”

After saying his piece, he turned and left, ignoring the man’s expression.

That was why she had laid out the harsh truths beforehand, giving them a clear warning not to cause trouble if she didn’t provide the drug.

Her position was clear; it was their own narrow-mindedness that was the problem.

“I’ll treat you to something delicious when we get back. Don’t be angry anymore.”

Isabel soothed her. “I told you not to come. You just got upset for no good reason.”

“If I hadn’t come with you,” Evelyn said, “they would have taken all their frustration out on you. It’s a good thing I was here to share the burden.”

“And Adrian… when you actually need him to solve a problem, he’s nowhere to be found. He’s just making things worse.”
