Aurora Walton and Lucas Carter novel Chapter 1683

Joseph’s voice was firm. “I have no reason to take that risk again. I have my own life to deal with now.”

“This isn’t taking a risk, it’s about fighting back against the injustice she caused you. Don’t you think she deserves some payback?”

Joseph looked away. “Find someone else. I really don’t have time for this, and I’m not in the mood to play along with your schemes.”

But Yvonne refused to back down.

“Joseph, are you even a man? After everything she did to you, you’re still this spineless? You don’t even have the guts to face her?

“With that attitude, I can’t help but look down on you.”

At her words, Joseph’s fists tightened.

“Who the hell do you think you are? Why would I care whether you look down on me or not?”

He stepped closer, his voice low and sharp. “I’m warning you—stay out of my life.”

Yvonne met his glare without flinching. “And I’m warning you—I will drag you to my side, no matter what it takes. I’m not giving up.”

Joseph turned and walked away. “Suit yourself.”

As she watched him leave, a calculating light flickered in Yvonne’s eyes.

There was no way she would let this opportunity slip away. She would get Joseph on her side one way or another.

After all, this was the only real chance she had to strike back at Aurora.

Yvonne couldn’t stand being controlled by others anymore. If Lucas kept holding her down, there was no point in keeping her studio open.

And submission had never been in her nature.

That was something her mother had taught her from the very beginning.

Yvonne had never been the kind of woman to play passive.

After leaving, Joseph couldn’t shake Yvonne’s words from his mind.

Could it be true that she and Aurora were truly at odds, enemies even?
