After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 213

“If you’re really that bored, I could sign you up for etiquette classes. My mom could take you to her luncheons with the other wives. You’d pick up some social skills.”

Isabella looked at him, unimpressed. “Have I ever embarrassed you at a party? Is my etiquette that bad? Am I terrible at making conversation?”

Ethan couldn’t argue. She was always perfect at those events.

He tried again. “Do you know how many women would love to have everything handed to them? Why can’t you be like them? Every time you say you’re bored, you just want to—”

“Whatever. Do what you want,” Ethan interrupted, already sensing they were about to start another endless argument. “It’s your life.”

He reached out, maybe to take her hand, but Isabella stepped away, giving him a cold stare. “What do you think you’re doing?”

“Jesse probably isn’t here yet. I just wanted to walk in with you. I’m not trying anything, so stop acting like I’m some creep. Even if you let me, I wouldn’t be interested.”

“I can walk just fine by myself,” Isabella said. “And trust me, it’s better that you’re not interested. I’d be worried if you were.”

That would make divorcing you a nightmare.

She gave him a sly look. “Besides, for someone as innocent as you, I doubt you’d even know how to take advantage.”

With that, Isabella headed inside the hotel without looking back.

Ethan glared at her retreating figure, his mood sinking. After a moment, he muttered, “I may not have done it, but I’m not clueless either.”

“I know. Just, next time you introduce a client to Isabella, give me a heads-up. And make sure she knows you’re doing it because of me.”

Jesse laughed. “That’s always the reason. Ethan, you sound weirdly jealous. Don’t tell me you’re actually falling for Isabella.”

“No way. I love Natalie. I always have,” Ethan said without missing a beat. “My heart’s only got room for Natalie. If Isabella wants me to love her, she’ll have to wait for her next life.”

Jesse snorted. “Just don’t be surprised if you have to eat your words. Melissa says you’ll regret this sooner or later.”

“And don’t get too full of yourself. Honestly, it looks like Isabella doesn’t love you as much as she used to.”

That hit a nerve. Ethan’s face darkened. He’d had the same feeling for a while now. Isabella just didn’t look at him the way she once did.
