After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 181

After coming back from the brink of death, Isabella finally understood. In this world, nothing really mattered except life and death. Everything else was just small stuff, not worth getting hung up on.

If it’s just small stuff, why let it get to you? Sometimes, letting go of what’s bothering you is really just giving yourself a break.

“I just think life’s short, you know? We only get a few decades. Better to spend them happy than miserable. Might as well face the ups and downs with a smile,” Isabella said.

Laura nodded in agreement.

When they arrived at The White Hotel, the two of them walked in with their heads held high, following Linda with all the confidence in the world.

Hardly anyone recognized Laura, but plenty of people knew who Isabella was.

As Mrs. Adams and Linda chatted and laughed together, people started to stare, curious looks following their little group.

The three of them slipped into a private room.

Isabella’s phone started ringing. It was Ethan.

“I need to take this,” she said, getting up and stepping into the hallway.

“Hey, Ethan. What’s going on?”

“Where are you?” His tone was impatient. “You’ve been gone all morning. I’m not feeling well, and you haven’t even bothered to check on me.”

Isabella rolled her eyes, not bothering to hide the sarcasm. “You want me to worry about you?”

“Yes, I do. I’m literally calling to complain that you don’t care about me. Clearly, I need your attention.”

She didn’t even know what to say to that.

“I’m hungry. Like, starving,” Ethan added, suddenly sounding pitiful.

He was still hungry, too. He hadn’t had breakfast and still hadn’t eaten a thing.

Then his phone buzzed with a new notification. It was a message from Isabella.

“Send me your location. I’ll order you some takeout. I can’t let you starve—not until you write a will and leave everything to me, anyway.”

Ethan glared at his screen. “Isabella, you’re unbelievable.”

When he didn’t reply, she actually sent him a transfer for two hundred bucks. “Just order food yourself. Two hundred is plenty.”

Ethan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. All her money came from him, and she was sending him just two hundred? Whenever he gave her money, it was always in the tens of thousands. She was so stingy.

It was just like the last time she gave him a present—a bouquet and a box of chocolates. He complained they were cheap, so in the end she left with the flowers and ate all the chocolates herself.

He ended up with nothing.
