That herbal tea was honestly awful. He never wanted to taste it again. He made a mental note to remind Isabella to go easy on it too.
“If you’re not feeling well, just go see a doctor. Don’t drag it out. If it gets worse, you’ll end up hospitalized and waste even more time. It’s not worth it.”
“I know,” Ethan replied, sounding like a kid getting lectured at school.
“I heard from Jordan that you’re going to the gala tonight. Are you bringing Isabella?”
Ethan paused, then decided to just say it. “I have to. She’s my wife now.”
Of course he’d bring Isabella. They were married. It only made sense.
“She doesn’t know anything about our world. If you take her, you’ll have to watch her every move. If she messes up or embarrasses herself, it’ll come back on you.”
“Isabella might not get what we talk about, but she knows how to behave,” Ethan said. “She’s not going to make a scene or do anything crazy. She can take care of herself, she doesn’t need me hovering over her.”
“She’s my wife. From now on, it’s her job to come with me to these things. That’s what being Mrs. Adams means.”
Ethan really didn’t see any issue with bringing Isabella to events like this.
“She should get out there, meet people, see how things work. Whether she learns anything or not, at least she’ll get used to it.”
Natalie was burning with jealousy, but she couldn’t argue.
“You’re right. It’s your business, not mine. Do what you want. I’ll call my girlfriends and see if anyone wants to go shopping with me.”
At least it was just warm water. If it had been hot, she would have been burned.
“Get out of my sight. Don’t bother me. I can’t stand you. Isabella is just as unbearable as you.”
“All you have is that pretty face and that body, always trying to catch men’s attention. You’re nothing but a tramp.”
Cynthia had been called worse by Natalie. She just smiled weakly and spoke softly, “Natalie, don’t be upset. I’ll go now. I won’t bother you.”
She’d heard it all before. Natalie’s insults didn’t even sting anymore.
It’s not like getting yelled at was going to hurt her. If Natalie wanted to vent, so be it.
