Abandoned by All I Took It All Back novel Chapter 364

She saw Marjorie sitting on the bed, her arms wrapped around a man’s waist. Although it was just a quick glance through the crack in the door, their body language was just like any other couple's.

When she told her friends about it, they all assumed he was Marjorie’s boyfriend.

But then, two days ago, they saw Marjorie again at a trendy tourist spot.

She was arm-in-arm with a refined-looking man, laughing and talking. It was obvious this wasn't the same man from the train.

Marjorie was so engrossed in her conversation that she didn't notice Janina and her friends.

Now, seeing her with yet another man, it was hard not to let their imaginations run wild.

And this was Southvale. How did she manage to find a different man every time?

“I’ll remind West to stay away from her,” Janina said, then added as a thought struck her, “Have you guys noticed that her eyes have this… detached look? When we ran into her on the train and she was arguing with us, she seemed not only arrogant but also completely unbothered.”

Janina was puzzled by this because Marjorie had always been good at putting on a mask.

But no matter how good the act, her eyes should have shown some reaction to their pointed comments. Instead, she had been too calm, unnaturally so, as if nothing in the world mattered to her.

“Yeah, I noticed that too. Either that, or she’s just a really good actress,” Wendy Clifford said with a laugh.

Melody was the first to disagree. “When it comes to acting, I’m the veteran here. If she were acting in front of me, she wouldn’t get past my eagle eyes.”

“Ooh, well then, Miss Veteran, please tell us: is that her true nature, or is it an act?” Maggie teased in a cutesy, high-pitched voice.

“It’s her true nature, of course. If someone like her tried to be deceptive, I’d see right through it.”

Janina watched her friends' playful banter, but a question formed in her mind.

She remembered seeing Marjorie at the hospital, clutching a lab report with a look of utter despair and pain. Could it be that something terrible had really happened to her, and now she was simply indifferent to life and death?

The thought lasted only a second before another voice cut through.
