Hearing this, the friends exchanged glances. Was this woman talking about them?
Once it sank in that this woman must have some grudge against Janina, Maggie's temper flared. She glared coldly at Marjorie.
"You'd better watch your mouth! What did we ever do to you?"
Marjorie laughed dismissively. "I didn't name any names. If you think I'm talking about you, that's on you."
Melody also stepped forward, her tone sharp. "This is a public place. We're all just trying to enjoy our trip. Don't come here looking for trouble."
Who would have thought that someone who looked so glamorous on the outside could have such a foul mouth.
Marjorie crossed her legs, resting her chin on one hand, and ignored their hostile glares.
She looked ahead, speaking as if to herself, yet clearly directing her words at Janina and her friends.
"Trash will always be trash. Already so rotten, yet still worrying about what others think. This world is so unfair. Hah... It's my mouth. I'll say whatever the hell I want, whenever it makes me feel good."
Wendy Clifford tugged on Janina's sleeve and whispered, "I think there's something wrong with her."
Wendy was observant. She had been watching Marjorie and noticed a frenzied, manic quality about her, unlike that of a normal person.
Janina had also sensed something was off about Marjorie. She forced down her anger.
"Marjorie, we don't want any conflict with you. Please stop making a scene."
The commotion was starting to draw stares from other passengers.
A train attendant walked over to ask what was happening.
Caustic, cruel, and unreasonable.
Or was this her true self, and the gentle, demure persona from before just an act?
Janina didn't know, and she didn't want to let thoughts of Marjorie ruin her mood.
Wendy comforted her friends. "Let's not let her ruin our trip. Once we get off the train, we'll just ignore her. You never know what's going on in someone's head. If we run into another Yvonne, we won't know what hit us. This trip is for us, and we have to have fun."
Wendy's comment was partly a joke.
But it struck a chord with Janina.
She suddenly remembered seeing Marjorie at the hospital when she had taken her children for their check-up.
