The train moved slowly forward.
The view outside the window gradually shifted from familiar city streets to the vast Able Tam and rolling mountain ranges.
Sunlight streamed through the window, filling the car with a warm, pleasant glow.
Janina leaned against the window, watching the scenery recede. "I'm so glad the four of us could take this trip together," she said wistfully. "Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could still travel together when we're old and gray?"
"Of course! The four of us can never be separated. We'll still be traveling together even if we need canes, hahaha!" Melody laughed, already lying on her bunk.
She had her legs bent as Wendy Clifford massaged them for her.
Wendy was the most domestic of the four. She could cook, clean, knit sweaters and scarves, embroider shoe insoles, and even give massages.
During the summer of her freshman year, she had worked as an apprentice at a massage parlor, and that’s where she learned her skills.
Every night back at the dorm, she would practice on her three best friends. Over time, they had all grown accustomed to her touch.
Wendy felt for Melody, whose filming schedule was often erratic, so she would frequently give her shoulder and back rubs.
Melody was in heaven.
As they ate their snacks, the four friends discussed the attractions in Southvale.
The train ride was twenty-two hours long, which at first sounded like part of the fun.
But the bathrooms...
There was always a line for the restroom.
Janina swore she would never take a train again.
The bathroom was especially in high demand in the morning.
Everyone had been fresh and excited when they first boarded, but after one night, their faces were oily and everyone looked exhausted.
It was impossible to get a good night's sleep.
Their car was a symphony of snoring, farting, teeth grinding, and even sleep-talking, which was genuinely creepy.
To top it all off, a thick smell of stinky feet hung in the air.
Tossing and turning, unable to sleep... who could understand that feeling?
Thankfully, they were only a few hours away from Southvale.
