Janina sneered. "What kind of father are you? When I was pregnant and struggling, you were helping your precious Yvonne bully me. The children would be ashamed if they knew they had a father like you. I think it's best if you stay away. In fact, don't come at all. You're an eyesore." Janina paused, giving him a cool glance before her gaze softened as she looked at the twins in their bassinet. "Besides, what if your wife finds out and decides to harm my children? If she lays a hand on them… I'll come for both of you."

"Where are you even getting this from? Why would anyone want to harm them? Have you been watching too many soap operas? You can't just make things up because you have a problem with me," Julius said, a look of disappointment on his face.

"Hasn't she harmed me enough?" Janina thought, her mind flashing back to her premature labor. She had always suspected Yvonne was involved, but she had no proof. She didn't bother explaining. In Julius's mind, Yvonne was a saint—pure, kind, and untouchable. Every time she had clashed with Yvonne, Julius had taken Yvonne's side. What was the point of saying more? As long as they left her alone, she'd thank her lucky stars.

Just then, Julius's phone rang. Fearing it would wake the babies, he immediately silenced the call. Less than ten seconds later, it rang again. Julius moved away from the children to answer it. Janina couldn't hear what was being said, but she saw his brow furrow deeper and deeper, until he finally said anxiously, "Don't be scared. I'm on my way."

Hearing that familiar line, Janina knew her ex-husband was finally leaving. Thank God. Seeing the panic on his face, she was certain it was Yvonne on the phone. She picked up the babies and carried them upstairs to her room, not giving Julius another glance.

Sure enough, after hanging up, Julius turned to her parents with an apologetic expression. "Mr. and Mrs. Holt, something's come up. I have to go. I'll come back to see Liam and Joy another time." With that, he turned and walked out the door.
