The sight of an unexpected guest standing in their living room so early in the morning left them both a bit stunned. When they got a clear look at Julius Aurelius's face, they immediately understood. This was Liam and Joy's bastard dad.

The babies were almost three months old, and this was the first time he'd come to see them.

West and Natalie exchanged a knowing glance. Without a word, they walked over to the dining table and started eating their breakfast, pointedly ignoring him.

"Janina, where are the babies? I just want to see them for a moment," Julius asked. His sincere tone surprised Janina. Since when was he so humble?

In truth, Julius had tried to arrange a visit to see the children several times through mutual friends, but Janina had refused him every time. And now, he had just shown up at her door.

Ethan and Grace Holt had already heard about Julius from their daughter. They knew he hadn't been a good husband. But he was still their father, and that wasn't something you could pretend away. Though the children bore the Holt name, as their biological father, he had a right to see them.

After half an hour of tense negotiation, Julius was finally allowed to see the two children he longed for. He stood over their cribs, watching the two little ones sleep soundly, and remained silent for a long time, his thoughts unreadable. After a while, he finally lowered his voice and asked, "What are their names?"

Janina didn't answer, but Ethan did. "The boy is Liam Holt, and the girl is Joy Holt. We hope they'll be happy every day."

Julius's heart sank. He wanted to demand, "Why do children of the Aurelius family have the surname Holt?" But the words wouldn't come out. He knew Janina still resented him. His mother had wanted to come today as well, but he had managed to persuade her to wait, fearing she would say the wrong thing. He was now thankful she wasn't here; the surname alone would have been enough to send her into a rage.

But at least one of the children had to be an Aurelius. Julius carefully chose his words before speaking again. "Liam and Joy are Aurelius children. It doesn't seem right for both of them to be named Holt. How about this? Let one of them take my surname. You can decide whether it's Liam or Joy."
