Maggie rolled her eyes. She wouldn't even deign to deal with a two-bit actress like this; it felt beneath her.
It really was true that Julius was a fool, because he clearly liked digging through trash. He seemed to think this particular piece of garbage was a gourmet meal.
Maggie looked at Yvonne with a scornful, dismissive smile. "A bitch and a scumbag, a match made in heaven!"
"You..." Yvonne's expression froze, too furious to speak.
"MAGGIE!" Julius gritted out, his eyes dark and stormy.
"I'm not deaf. You don't have to shout," Maggie shot back, completely unfazed.
Their confrontation was starting to draw stares and whispers from passersby.
Sensing the situation was getting out of hand, Yvonne quickly pulled Julius away.
Just as the elevator doors closed, a venomous look flashed in Yvonne's eyes.
Maggie returned to the hospital room and told Janina and Natalie about her run-in with Julius and Yvonne.
"I held back from hitting her because I was afraid she'd try to scam me. She really did look sick, though—pale, with no color in her face."
"Alright, alright, let's not talk about them. It's just depressing," Maggie said, waving her hand dismissively, her eyes full of disgust.
Not wanting to dwell on the pair, Maggie quickly pulled out her phone, opened her photo album, and leaned in close to Janina.
"I went to see the babies. They're so tiny and adorable. Here, look."
She held the phone up for Janina to see. "The doctor said they're doing really well, so don't worry. As soon as you can walk, you can go see them."
Janina gazed at the pictures of her two tiny babies. So small.
They lay peacefully in their incubators, little hands resting on their faces, diapers covering most of their tiny bodies.
