"Thank goodness. I was so scared last night. Dr. Lewiston and the team didn't sleep a wink, afraid something would happen. Usually, in cases like that, the patient doesn't survive. Do you think God was watching over her?"
"Oh, don't start with all that mystical talk. It was a matter of good fortune and Dr. Lewiston's exceptional expertise. To put it plainly, even fate seemed to be on her side that day."
Julius stopped in his tracks. For some reason, he immediately thought of Janina.
But then he dismissed the thought. Janina had always been healthy; there was no way she would have a premature birth.
But... her due date must be getting close, right?
He had been so busy with the company lately, Yvonne's health had been poor, and his own stomach problems kept flaring up. He just hadn't had time to keep tabs on Janina.
He decided he would have his assistant find out how she was doing when he got back to the office. He needed to know when the baby was due. He couldn't miss the birth of his child.
"Julius, what are you thinking about? Let's go," Yvonne said, gently tugging his arm when she noticed he was distracted.
Julius's expression returned to normal. "It's nothing. Let's go."
Maggie, returning from seeing the babies, saw them as she approached the nurse's station.
Remembering that Yvonne might be connected to the incident at New Vista Medical Center, Maggie seethed with anger. "What are you two doing here?" she demanded fiercely.
She assumed Yvonne was there to cause more trouble.
Although there was no proof yet linking Yvonne to Nina's premature labor, she had to be on guard against that venomous woman. And Julius, that brainless idiot, actually brought this bitch to the hospital. He was just asking for trouble.
