Abandoned by All I Took It All Back novel Chapter 236

Seeing Janina stall, the doctor let out an impatient sigh. He turned to face her, holding a long, thick needle. "What you're feeling is a normal part of labor. You don't actually need to use the restroom. You don't need to be nervous. A C-section is a routine procedure, not as scary as you think. We're about to administer the anesthesia, and the nurse will insert a catheter. Lie down!"

The doctor's tone left no room for argument, which only confirmed Janina's suspicions.

Ignoring the waves of contractions, she clenched her jaw and insisted on getting off the bed. She held up her phone and said, word by word, "If you don't let me go, I'm calling the police." As she spoke, she pressed '9-1-'.

Just as Janina was about to press the last digit, the doctor finally relented.

He shot her a hostile look, but it was gone in an instant, replaced by a strained calmness. "Wait. Miss Holt, you're being overly sensitive. We are medical professionals with a code of ethics. I was only concerned something might happen if you left. If you need to use the restroom, then go. The nurse will accompany you, just in case."

"Fine. I'll be right back," Janina replied.

The doctor and the nurse exchanged a look, and though it was quick, Janina saw it clearly.

To prove she was actually going to the restroom, she grabbed a few tissues from a nearby table before walking out, cradling her belly.

The surgical door opened, and Janina emerged, with the nurse following close behind.

The restroom was around the corner of the hallway. As she walked, she carefully scanned her surroundings.

She realized this floor was eerily quiet. There wasn't a single person in the corridor.

Her parents weren't there. That meant they were willing to operate on her without a single family member present. There were no other doctors, no other patients. The whole floor was deserted and felt a little unsettling.

A cold sweat broke out on Janina's skin as fear consumed her.

She quickened her pace, her mind racing. To escape, she had to get rid of the nurse.
