You don't actually need to use the restroom. You don't need to be nervous. A C-section is a routine procedure, not as scary as you think. We're about to administer the anesthesia, and the nurse will insert a catheter. Lie down!"

The doctor's tone left no room for argument, which only confirmed Janina's suspicions.

Ignoring the waves of contractions, she clenched her jaw and insisted on getting off the bed. She held up her phone and said, word by word, "If you don't let me go, I'm calling the police." As she spoke, she pressed '9-1-'.

Just as Janina was about to press the last digit, the doctor finally relented.
