“N-no… Uncle Talton was the one who insisted on buying lots of things for me… He said that he wanted to buy all the things he couldn’t get for me during the long gap that we hadn’t met!”

Stefan then quickly added, “Indeed. I was the one who suggested it in the first place. That aside, go play with your toys for now, little princess. Uncle Talton wants to have a chat with your mommy for a bit.”

“Okay!” replied Yulia as she retrieved the toys from Stefan’s arms and ran off to a table to start playing on her own.

With Yulia out of the way, Stefan was prompted to ask, “Speaking of which, was something up when you called me that night…? I remember you calling through an unfamiliar number though I couldn’t ask any further because… well, you know how busy I was...”

Xavia, for one, didn’t want Stefan to worry about her. Besides, the matter had been resolved anyway. With that in mind, she turned to glance at Lily who was now staring at her—from her bed—with pleading eyes. Upon realizing that Xavia had noticed her pitiful look, Lily then quickly pretended to sleep again.

This prompted Xavia to subtly shake her head before saying, “…It was nothing major. At the time, I heard rumors that Miss Whitham had met with an accident. Since I was out and didn’t have my cell phone with me back then, I borrowed someone’s phone to ask you about it. That aside, now that I know that her condition and emotional state aren’t the greatest, you should try to accompany her more. Once she recovers, you could try getting her pregnant again to ease her aching heart…”
