Naturally, this left everyone surprised. After all, the way Zivon was behaving was far different compared to his usual commanding and prestigious self! What more, to think that the boy was Young Master Burton’s child! No wonder he was so adorable!
Though this was shocking to them, everyone knew that they had more important things to be dealing with. With that, they refrained from gossiping and simply continued observing the rescue situation…
Zivon, on the other hand, lifted the child in his arms before finding a relatively quiet corner to sit in. Following that, he was prompted to ask, “Why are your eyes so red?”
“…I… I dreamed that you got buried alive in a pit…” whimpered the boy as he looked into his father’s eyes, a stray teardrop running down his face as he recalled the nightmare.
This, of course, made Zivon go silent. After all, to think that his usually strong son would end up crying so badly because of a nightmare… What more, the boy had even taken the effort to come searching for him all the way here in the dead of night!
Feeling slightly touched, Zivon then wiped off Maison’s tears before saying, “…Dreams are usually the opposite of reality. With that said, Daddy’s still fine…”
“…Really…? You know… Aunt said the exact same thing…” muttered Maison.
She… did? Looking around and not seeing her, Zivon’s eyes darkened slightly as he asked, “Did you come over on your own?”
“No… Aunt’s still waiting for you outside… She’s worried too… Do you want to meet up with her…?” asked Maison in an innocent tone. Though Maison thought he had lost all hope in getting them on good terms, he subconsciously still wanted them to be together.
Zivon, for one, knew for a fact that Xavia wasn’t worried about him. However, he still needed to hand the boy back to her, so he slowly got to his feet before saying, “I will, but only to hand you back to her. This isn’t a suitable place for you to stay in, so be a good boy and go back with her to sleep. Also, no more crying, alright…?”
“No! I’m sleeping next to you tonight…” declared Maison in a firm tone. Though Maison’s illness was now back, Maison had never failed to persuade his father to let him sleep by his side. There was simply no talking the boy out of it.
Though he understood that, Zivon eventually replied, “…Be a good boy for Daddy… I’m sure you saw the news, right…? Daddy has very important things to do tonight…”
“Just do what you need to. I’ll simply watch from the side!” replied Maison, prompting Zivon to go silent.
