“Yeah… He came over to pass some medicine to Xavia earlier, but he ended up fainting because of a high fever. We’re only treating him now so that Xavia won’t worry as much.”
Naturally, Zivon instantly squinted when he heard that! She didn’t have any feelings for Cade, huh…? What utter bullshit!
By the time the two got to the treatment room, Cade had already awoken… and upon seeing both Ian and Zivon, the guilty man gulped before saying, “I-I apologize for all the trouble… I didn’t really want to pester Xavia, but my fever struck just as I was about to leave, and I-”
“Calm down, Mr. Cress. First of all, since we’re already treating you, we may as well continue doing so. Secondly, I’d like to ask… Where exactly did you get Xavia’s medicine?” interrupted Ian.
Fighting the urge to tremble, Cade timidly replied, “I-I created it from countryside herbs after learning that she was poisoned… I-I’m not trying to brag or anything, but had I not developed it, she would’ve surely died by now… Still, I wonder how she even came into contact with such a devious poison-”
Before Cade could complete his sentence, Zivon grabbed him by the collar before growling, “Enough bullshitting…! First of all, the herbs needed to create that antidote aren’t even available this season, and secondly, you’re telling me that you were actually able to create such a complex antidote…?! Enough bluffing! Who gave you the drug?!”
Despite being more terrified than ever, Cade clenched his fists before replying, “I-I meant every word that I said…! I didn’t mention this earlier, but my foster father used to dabble in herbs, and he had spares of the main herb required to form the antidote! I-if you don’t believe me, then feel free to head to the village to check with him!”
