Naturally, this shocked Whitney. After all, she had clearly sensed his despair before picking up that call. And now that he was sending her back to prison… Did that mean that he had truly succeeded in finding the cure…?!
Unwilling to accept this, Whitney retorted, “W-wait! You can’t do this to me! You’re simply bluffing…!”
“Think what you want, woman, but it won’t change anything. Ian managed to find samples of the drug in multiple medical schools, so we don’t need your bloody herbs! Rot in jail! Also, expect to have a taste of your own medicine…!” snarled Zivon before turning to leave.
…What? Did he intend to use that drug on her…?!
“Y-you can’t do this to me, Zivon…! You can’t…! L-let go!” yelled Whitney as the cops dragged her in the opposite direction… and to Whitney’s dismay, Zivon never even bothered looking back…
Though Zivon was in high spirits since he knew that Xavia was now going to be fine, the truth was that it was all just a big lie…
Looking at his sister who was still lying on the therapy room’s bed, Ian sighed before saying, “…He believed the lie… Don’t worry, I’ll do my best to find the cure.”
Nodding in response, Xavia smiled as she replied, “Thank you… You really are the best brother in the world…!”
“You can’t sweet talk me like you do to Zivon… Just promise that you’ll tell me whenever you feel uncomfortable. I’ll be happy as long as you’re safe and healthy…”
“I will.”
To make sure that Zivon wouldn’t suspect them, Xavia made sure to pretend to drink the ‘cure’ in front of him. Naturally, Zivon was fully satisfied with that. After all, to him, Ian had no reason to lie to him about this. If only he remembered that this wasn’t the first time that Ian had lied to him for Xavia’s sake…
