Slowly sitting up, she soon realized that Ian and Lana were sleeping by the sides of her bed, both looking extremely tuckered out… It took her a while, but she eventually remembered that she had passed out shortly after learning that Sophia could no longer bear children…
Just as she was wondering whether these two had been up all night because of her, Lana stirred from her sleep… and upon realizing that Xavia was awake, she immediately exclaimed, “Y-you’re finally awake…! Thank God…!”
Instantly snapping awake as well, Ian was quick to ask, “How are you feeling? Any discomfort anywhere?!”
Shaking her head, Xavia replied, “My body feels like it’s made of rock but otherwise, I think I’m fine… How long was I out…?”
“Well… you were brought here at noon yesterday, so… for about fifteen hours? You were on the verge of death, but Sir Ian kept pleading for you to live on… He never gave up on you, and he even held your hand until we were able to stabilize your condition again… It was heartbreaking to see him like that, so thankfully you made it through…”
Now realizing just how close she had been to dying, she felt a shiver run down her spine, followed by a pang of guilt as she muttered, “…Sorry for making you so worried about me…”
Holding her hands tightly, Ian replied, “If you’re truly sorry, then continue fighting on to live…! I’ll have you know that the state you were in last night was soul-crushing for me… I can only imagine how painful it would be for Zivon once he finally learns of the truth… With that said, please do your best to continue living… For everyone’s sake…!”
Utterly touched by how sincere he was being, Xavia took a deep breath before saying, “…I’ll do my best. Speaking of which… Was Von not suspicious about my absence…?”
“He did ask about you, though he’s currently cooped up in his lab, and I believe he didn’t head home last night… Even so, I have a feeling that he’ll be heading home soon.”
