Upon hearing that, the saddened woman yanked her hand away before grumbling, “…Weren’t you too busy hanging around other women? Who on earth wants to be your Mrs. Burton…”
Feeling slightly guilty, Zivon couldn’t help but wonder if she wouldn’t have gotten into that accident had he not dealt with things that way… In the end, he ended up replying, “…That woman was simply a lady working in the lab’s cafeteria…”
Though this relieved Xavia, she simply looked in the other direction, prompting Zivon to sigh helplessly. After gesturing for Zayne and Mr. Squire to leave, he waited till the ward was all quiet before finally saying, “…I’ve been thinking about what you said… and honestly, it makes no difference whether you tell me about that person or not. After all, as long as you remain by my side, I’m fine with that… I won’t be asking about that person in the future anymore either.”
This prompted Xavia to stare at him in surprise. Had his attitude really changed that quickly? Hadn’t he told her that he wasn’t going to marry her last night? In the end, it was clear that he prioritized their future over what had happened in the past… Mature men really were something else…
Giving him a good, long look, Xavia decided that it was high time she told him everything. Sure, things could end unpleasantly, but she was confident that things would work out. With that, she ultimately said, “…Um… The man back then… It was-”
“Zivon!” exclaimed a familiar voice right before Xavia could finish her sentence.
Turning around, she saw that it was Fiona, and standing beside her, was Mr. Squire. After clearing his throat, he solemnly said, “Apologies for bothering, but I’ve brought Fiona over to make a proper apology to you two. Her behavior is less than admirable, and I admit that I should’ve brought her up better. If she misbehaves anymore in the future, just tell me, Miss Lockhart. I’ll make sure to put some sense into her!”
Watching as her serious father glared at her, Fiona pouted before grumbling, “I get it! I admit that I misbehaved, and I swear never to hurt you again!”
…Why did these two have to step in right when she had finally gathered enough courage to tell Zivon the truth…? That aside, Fiona was clearly insincere, but she really couldn’t be bothered about her anymore.
With that, Xavia replied, “Don’t worry, I’ve already forgiven her long ago.”
