Sophia's hand collided hard with someone's cheek. The person was caught off guard, and her cheek turned red.
Sophia had no sympathy as she demanded hysterically, “Did I give you permission to explain things? Are you going against me? Has your conscience been eaten by a dog? You keep going back on your word and doing things like this again and again. Is it because you think I can't do anything about it?”
The person she was addressing was none other than Xavia.
She had just been dozing off when Sophia’s text message had woken her up. It was brief, asking her to come to the cemetery.
Xavia knew why Sophia was looking for her, so she was mentally prepared. She was not surprised or panicked as she looked at Sophia calmly and said, “Miss Harrison, I’m not going against you. I know that I owe you, and that's why I’ve been putting up with you again and again. However, our issue does not involve my daughter, and you should never, ever have touched her. I only spoke out to explain my daughter’s identity. I don’t want to involve outsiders, so we will resolve our grievances by ourselves.”
Sophia frowned and asked, “What do you mean?”
Xavia pursed her lips and said, “In the beginning, I genuinely wanted to give Young Master Burton to you. I was sincere when I wanted to back out. I have a clear conscience regardless of whether you believe it or not.”
“After that, I did everything you asked me to, including not contacting Young Master Burton, and also not clarifying the fake news you fabricated with Jenna. I even found the reason behind the misunderstanding between Young Master Burton and his mother, and I gave the evidence to you so that you could be the one to tell Young Master Burton about it.”
“I thought that I was doing right by you, and foolishly expected you to be content with it. Unfortunately, you kept getting ahead of yourself and kept trying to push me to my death. Miss Harrison, think about it carefully… Do you really want me to make it up to you? You keep using that as an excuse, but you're really just harming me and behaving selfishly.”
