After saying that, Zivon took Wendy with him, turned around, and left.
It took Mark a moment to recover, but after that, he did not pay any more attention to Zivon.
Outside.
Wendy looked curious and concerned as she asked, “Ziv, what’s going on? You asked Mr. Newman to customize a ring? For whom?” Could it be Xavia?
“Mom, I’m going to the washroom. Go and wait for me in the car.” Zivon did not reply, and turned around and walked towards the corridor. He was breathing quickly, his steps were fast, and he was tugging at his tie, indicating his irritability.
Wendy frowned deeply. She had not cared about her son for more than twenty years and she wanted to care for him now, but it felt like she could not seem to intervene. She walked out with a heavy heart, and to her surprise, saw Xavia in the exhibition room. She quickly entered it and approached her. “Miss Lockhart, can I talk to you for a moment?”
When Xavia heard the voice, she turned around. She smiled politely when she saw that it was Wendy. “Sure, Aunt, what is it you want to talk to me about? There is a place to sit over here. Come, let’s sit and chat.”
“Okay.” Wendy followed Xavia and sat down on one of the seats opposite her. She looked at her curiously. Xavia had lively and bright eyes, a delicate and clean face, and she was wearing a simple and comfortable dress. She did not look like a scheming person at all.
Wendy’s features softened as she asked, “You were acquainted with Ziv in the past, right?”
Xavia was stunned at the question. She and Zivon had not just been acquaintances—their relationship was far more complicated than that. However, Xavia did not know what to say in this case.
Wendy added, “Someone told me before that you are a bad person, but after meeting you, I think there may have been some misunderstanding. You look like you have a kind and pure heart, so I have something to say to you.”
“Ziv has been very pitiful ever since he was young. When he was staying with me, he was always bullied by his classmates in the village because he did not have a father. He also did not know the meaning of ‘father’ every Father’s Day.”
