Year Five The Perfect Goodbye Plan novel Chapter 199

Silvia met Shipley’s gaze.

There was no mistaking the possessiveness and need for control burning in his eyes. It was so blatant, so raw, that it made her skin crawl all over again. The sensation clawed at her chest, squeezing until it was hard to breathe.

Time might have passed, but every interaction with Shipley still filled Silvia with the same revulsion she’d felt the day she’d walked away. She couldn’t help it—she didn’t want to look at him, didn’t even want to waste her breath speaking to him.

After a long, heavy silence, Silvia finally said, “Shipley, aren’t you worried Vianne will get jealous, with you grabbing me like this?”

That was what truly puzzled her.

They’d broken up ages ago. Vianne was always by his side now, and surely, they were official. No woman would tolerate her boyfriend openly manhandling his ex, not right in front of her. And Vianne, of all people, wasn’t that type.

Silvia glanced over her shoulder, searching for Vianne. Their eyes met in the corridor.

Vianne’s gaze was wistful at first, but then it shifted—something more complicated flickered there. Not wanting Silvia to see her vulnerability, Vianne simply turned and disappeared into her office, leaving the hallway behind.

Now only Shipley and Silvia remained in the corridor.

Shipley stared at her, his gaze smoldering, almost feverish. He exhaled slowly, his voice thick with possessiveness. “Sweet Silvia, have you forgotten? You’re mine. Vianne is just a friend. Why would she be jealous of us?”

His words were laced with cold confidence and a hint of arrogance.

Silvia held his gaze, letting his words sink in.
