Year Five The Perfect Goodbye Plan novel Chapter 163

Silvia frowned slightly, her eyes flickering with suspicion.

She hadn’t exchanged more than a few words with Laurinda yesterday—so how could Laurinda be this enthusiastic now?

A single text wasn’t enough; Laurinda insisted on calling her directly?

But...

She remembered what Kent had told her in the car: there was no need for her to interact with the Parsons family. That meant Kent wouldn’t have given her number to anyone in their family—Laurinda must have found it herself.

Had Laurinda only looked up her phone number, or was she digging deeper?

“Silvia? Having trouble with the signal?” Laurinda’s voice chimed in again.

Snapping out of her thoughts, Silvia replied in a calm, even tone, “Aunt Laurinda, I’m sorry, I have plans tomorrow. I probably won’t be able to—”

Laurinda cut her off, her voice light and cheerful. “That’s fine! We’re family—there’ll be plenty of chances to get together. How about the day after tomorrow?”

Silvia pressed her lips together, thinking it over.

After a moment, she agreed quietly, “Alright, the day after tomorrow then.”

She realized now that if she kept declining, Laurinda would just keep asking. It was better to meet and see what Laurinda was after.

Once they settled on a date, Laurinda hung up, clearly pleased. Silvia stared at her phone and let out a small sigh.

Her visit to the Parsons estate today had given her a real taste of what it meant to be part of a powerful family. The atmosphere was stifling—everyone seemed to have their own hidden agendas. Maybe that was why Kent had turned out cold and sharp-tongued; it was a product of his environment.
