Year Five The Perfect Goodbye Plan novel Chapter 155

On the other end of the line, there was a deathly silence.

Silvia heard a weary sigh before Amy’s voice finally filtered through the phone. “Silvia, I admit it. I messed up. This one’s on me.”

She confessed so quickly that Silvia let out a soft, cold laugh.

“You’re not sorry because you did something wrong. You’re sorry because you know you’re in real trouble now.” Silvia paused, her tone sharp as a blade. “Amy, tell me—how did you meet Vianne?”

Lowering her gaze, Silvia’s eyes glinted with a chill.

Amy was stunned. She had no idea when Silvia had picked up on this.

She’d thought she could hide the fact that someone had paid her to go after Silvia. Clearly, that was no longer an option.

“A little while ago, when you and Mr. Finn went out for drinks, I was there too.” Amy took a deep breath, as if bracing herself for the rest. “By chance, I overheard that Vianne had it out for you, so I struck up a conversation with her.”

After just a few words, Amy had gotten tangled up with Vianne—and made a much bigger mistake.

Silvia hadn’t expected that they’d met back then.

She frowned, then pressed on. “Amy, honestly, since you joined The Ashford Group, have I ever made things hard for you? Whatever task you gave me, I did it. Even when you left me out, I accepted it without complaint. So why the hostility? What did I ever do to deserve this from you?”

Amy didn’t answer.

She just gave a bitter laugh, her voice hollow. “I’ve said everything there is to say. Silvia, I wronged you. I’m begging you, please don’t press charges. I can’t handle the consequences.”

Silvia remembered that Amy had a brother struggling with mental illness.

That was the only reason she’d even considered using the threat of a lawsuit to keep Amy in line.
