The couple seemed oblivious to everyone else in the living room, so wrapped up in each other that their affection actually put Lola at ease.
Maybe all their worries over the last three days had been unnecessary.
At least for now, it looked like things between Silvia and Kent were going just fine.
Perhaps Kent had just been busy with work lately, and Silvia, feeling bored at home alone, decided to come back for a visit.
With that thought, a small smile flickered in Lola’s eyes. She watched as the housekeeper brought out the dishes and quickly called out, “Silvia, Kent, come eat while it’s hot.”
After all, with a guest present, it was best the two of them kept things a little more reserved.
Silvia nodded, reaching for Kent’s hand, and the two of them sat side by side at the dining table.
Shipley glanced at the round table, his gaze darting quickly over Silvia and Kent’s intertwined fingers before looking away. His own hand, resting at his side, slowly curled into a fist.
After a moment, Shipley let out a slow breath.
His smile didn’t falter as he took the seat beside Silvia.
Originally, Lola had planned to sit next to Silvia herself, hoping to let Shipley and Garth chat over drinks. But now, seeing everyone had already chosen their seats, she let it go.
Kent glanced sideways, giving Shipley a cool look. For a split second, something dangerous flickered in his sharp eyes.
Shipley really didn’t know when to quit.
Clearly, Kent’s earlier lenience had given Shipley the opportunity to stir up trouble here in Capital City.
Shipley met Kent’s gaze head-on, refusing to back down.
