When My Ex's Worst Enemy Became My Sanctuary novel Chapter 95

Albert slammed his fist into the glass coffee table, blood welling up between his knuckles. He could hardly believe it. Dorothea was really married now. She had even taken wedding photos with another man.

Dorothea sat at the edge of her bed, phone pressed to her ear as she talked to Carmen.

“Dorothea, I just retweeted your wedding photo on my feed!” Carmen announced, sounding way too pleased with herself.

Dorothea paused for a second. “Carmen, you...”

“I did it on purpose, you know. I wanted Albert to see it. He’s always going after that witch. I just wanted him to know you’re doing perfectly fine without him.”

“Don’t worry, Dorothea. Mr. Stephens didn’t even show his face in that picture. Even if Albert asks, I’m not telling him a thing.”

It wasn’t that Carmen was trying to keep secrets from Albert. She just figured Dorothea deserved to share the news herself.

Dorothea sighed and smiled, a little resigned. “It’s fine. What’s done is done.”

She’d posted the photos online anyway, never intending to hide anything. If Latham hadn’t insisted, she probably would’ve just uploaded a solo shot. Now, looking at the photo again, she wondered if Albert would recognize the man’s back.

Suddenly, she glanced at the door. “Carmen, someone’s knocking. I’ll call you later.”

“Alright, go deal with it.” Carmen hung up right away.

Dorothea still had her phone in hand as she opened the door. Latham stood outside, holding his own phone.

He nodded toward it. “Dad wants to video chat with you.”

She let him in and took the phone, putting on a smile. “Dad?”

Ladd’s face filled the screen, his hand stroking his beard. “Having fun, Dorothea? Latham hasn’t gotten on your nerves, has he?”

Dorothea shook her head. “Don’t worry, Dad. Everything’s good here.”

“I heard there was a typhoon at one of your stops. Good thing you guys changed plans. Getting stuck there would’ve been a disaster.”

Dorothea had to admit, their luck hadn’t been bad. They visited the mountains first, and when they tried to head to the island, the storm showed up. So they just changed destinations. Everything had worked out so far.

“Dorothea, Latham doesn’t know much. Go easy on him, alright? If he ever makes you mad, just call me. I’ll give him a hard time for you.”
