When My Ex's Worst Enemy Became My Sanctuary novel Chapter 93

“Just call and ask them to bring some motion sickness medicine.”

Dorothea did as she was told, still a little stunned. She never imagined Latham could look so vulnerable. In her mind, he was always the guy with a teasing smile, impossible to read, like he was hiding a dozen secrets behind those eyes. Now, though, he seemed fragile, almost like a fox desperate for someone to comfort him.

A male fox spirit… That thought made her heart skip and her cheeks flush all the way to her ears. Why would she even think of calling him that?

When the crew delivered the medicine, she helped Latham sit up and take it.

“Don’t go. Will you stay with me?” His voice was soft, his dark eyes wet and fixed on her. Something inside her melted.

“Alright, I’ll stay. Try to sleep, okay?”

She ended up feeding him half a bowl of oatmeal, running back and forth until she was exhausted herself. At some point, she leaned against the bed, closed her eyes, and drifted off.

Meanwhile, the supposedly sick Latham lay there, blinking slyly.

The next morning, Dorothea woke up sweating. It felt like she’d spent the night clinging to a metal pole. As she opened her eyes, she froze—Latham’s face was just inches from hers. Her eyes shot wide open.

What was happening? How had she ended up in bed with him?

Their position was beyond awkward. Her leg was sandwiched between his, and his arm was draped over her waist. Honestly, it looked like they’d been married for years.

Dorothea held her breath, trying to gently pry his hand off her waist with two fingers. But Latham just let out a sleepy groan and hugged her tighter.

No way. She needed to get out of here, fast.

She yanked her leg free and, finally, Latham’s dark eyes fluttered open.

“Dorothea?” His voice was thick with sleep. “Why are you in my room?”
