When My Ex's Worst Enemy Became My Sanctuary novel Chapter 73

Dorothea’s eyes flew open, wide and round, like she couldn’t believe what she’d done the night before.

Turning her face away, she mumbled, “These are just mosquito bites.”

Latham almost burst out laughing, but instead, he leaned in and nipped at her earlobe. “Mosquito bites, huh? Then the one that bit me must have been a female mosquito.”

Dorothea just couldn’t deal with him anymore. “Alright, I have to get ready for work.”

She yanked up the bedsheet, wrapped it tightly around herself, and hurried into the bathroom, locking the door behind her like she was guarding state secrets.

When she caught her reflection in the mirror, she nearly blacked out. Latham had the nerve to point fingers at her? She had way more marks on her than he did.

Gently touching the obvious hickey on her neck, Dorothea frowned. In this heat, wearing a turtleneck would just look ridiculous. She wondered if concealer would be enough to cover it up.

Later, when they both came out of the bedroom, one after the other, Linda peeked out from the kitchen, grinning to herself.

At breakfast, Dorothea shot Linda a look full of silent complaint. Linda quickly pretended to be busy and slipped away.

Left with no one else to blame, Dorothea turned her annoyance on Latham. Wasn’t he supposed to be gay? Since when was he this out of control?

Finally, Dorothea grabbed her keys and headed out.

Latham straightened up, trying to look serious. “Linda, next time, don’t make decisions on your own.”

Linda gave him a sheepish smile. “Got it.”

He handed her an envelope. “Here’s your bonus. Don’t let Dorothea find out.”

Linda stared at him for a second. Was that… a compliment?

Dorothea slid into the office right on time. That morning, she’d been transferred from HR to the office next to Lenard’s.

Now she was on the same level as Lenard, which he already knew, thanks to some digging. What he hadn’t expected was to find out Dorothea was actually the real boss behind The Gresham. And she was so young.

Lenard was in the know, but most people weren’t.
