When My Ex's Worst Enemy Became My Sanctuary novel Chapter 283

Bonita was seriously annoyed, but she didn’t have the guts to go against his orders.

She called Beatty to vent, hoping for a little sympathy. Beatty just laughed and tried to calm her down. “Don’t make things difficult for yourself over money. There’s no point in upsetting Latham over something so minor. If you just go over there, apologize, and show him that everything’s running smoothly on your side, I’m sure he won’t make things hard for you.”

Bonita caught something off. “Wait, Beatty, do you know Latham?”

Beatty realized she’d let something slip. She smiled, trying to play it cool. “Yeah, we met a while back, when he was abroad.”

She didn’t mention anything about Latham’s recovery overseas. That wasn’t her secret to tell.

But Bonita suddenly put two and two together. “Hold on, Beatty. The guy you said you used to like… it’s Latham, isn’t it?”

Beatty froze, caught off guard by her friend’s guess. “Don’t be ridiculous. He’s married now. I’m not thinking about any of that anymore.”

Bonita let out a cold laugh. “I knew it. Dorothea’s such a manipulator. She didn’t just go after Albert, now she’s set her sights on the guy you liked.”

She seemed to forget about who came first. She and Beatty were the latecomers here. But Bonita’s jealousy had already clouded her judgment.

Beatty worried Bonita might do something reckless, so she quickly tried to reassure her. “Don’t do anything crazy, okay? There was nothing going on. I just had a little crush, that’s all.”

“I get it. Don’t worry, I’ll go deal with her tomorrow,” Bonita said.

How much she meant those words, no one could really tell.

With her best professional smile in place, Bonita showed up at The Gresham. “Dorothea, I’m so sorry. I’ve just been swamped lately and didn’t mean to neglect you. Our credit department’s already looked over your documents, and there’s absolutely no problem at all. To make it up to you, I brought my team here today to handle everything personally. We can get all the paperwork done right now.”
