When My Ex's Worst Enemy Became My Sanctuary novel Chapter 278

Dorothea’s eyes flickered, but she kept her polite smile. “Hi.”

Even though her greeting sounded friendly, there was a definite distance between them.

“Dorothea, think about what I said, alright? There’s really no point in waiting around tonight. Or maybe just talk to Latham. It could save you some hassle.”

Dorothea didn’t want to hear any more.

“Thank you for your concern. I’ll head out now. Please let Bonita know I’ll visit her at the office another day.”

She nodded, then walked away without looking back, making it clear she had no interest in chatting with Beatty any longer.

Beatty watched her leave and sighed softly. Clearly, her words hadn’t gone over well.

It was already ten when Dorothea finally got home.

Latham was waiting for her, half complaining, “Babe, you’ve been even busier than me lately.”

Dorothea pressed her lips together, unable to resist snapping back. “Is it a crime if I’m busy? Are you the only one who’s allowed to have work?”

Latham immediately picked up on her mood. “That’s not what I meant. Please don’t be mad, okay?”

Dorothea realized she was being unfair and let out a breath, her tone softening. “Sorry. Work’s just been a lot these days and I’m in a bad mood. I didn’t mean to take it out on you.”

Latham never held grudges with her.

After he finished getting ready for bed, he came out hoping to cuddle, but Dorothea was already turned away, fast asleep.

He could only give a helpless little smile, leaning in to kiss her gently on the ear.

“Sweetheart, you’ve been skipping out on me these days. I’m definitely going to make up for it soon.”
