When My Ex's Worst Enemy Became My Sanctuary novel Chapter 25

A flash of amusement flickered in Albert's eyes, like he couldn't believe what he was hearing. "Seriously? Dorothea actually likes that loser?"

Carola blinked at him, wide-eyed and innocent. "Albert, I really don't know. Maybe she does like him. Who can say?"

Albert let out a heavy sigh. "Don't worry, I'll handle it. I'm not going to let you get the short end of the stick."

After the meeting, Dorothea left The Brown Estate and sent Latham a message.

[Did you have your family reach out to my mom? About the marriage thing?]

Latham was lounging at his club, scrolling through his phone with a lazy grin.

[Yeah.]

Dorothea paused for a second, then typed back, [Thank you.]

The Stephens family getting in touch with her mother today had saved her from a tough spot. Saying thank you just felt right.

She was about to drive home when a location popped up on her screen, sent by Latham.

Dorothea: [?]

Latham: [I drank too much. Come pick me up.]

Dorothea: [Where's your driver?]

Latham: [You just thanked me, and now you're complaining about picking me up?]

Dorothea replied right away. [I'm on my way.]

At the club, Latham wasn't even drinking, just sprawled on the sofa, glued to his phone. Wade, who had invited him, sounded a little annoyed. "Latham, I brought you here to have a drink, not to sit on your phone all night."

Latham just shrugged. "You guys go ahead. I'm skipping the drinks tonight."

He flashed a sly smile. "My wife is coming to take me home."

Everyone in the room exchanged glances, not quite sure what to make of that.

"Mr. Stephens, you're married?" someone blurted out.
