“Alan, please, just let me meet Brody for a minute. I really have something important to tell him…”
Sheila’s pleading used to work on Alan, but she’d done it so many times that he was over it now. Before she could even finish, he turned away and walked off.
Two tough-looking bodyguards stepped in front of Sheila, making it clear she wasn’t going anywhere. Their eyes bore down on her, silent but intimidating.
Meanwhile, Brody slid into his car. His phone rang right away; it was his daughter calling.
Carrie spoke in a quiet, excited whisper. “Daddy, are you busy?”
“Not for you, sweetheart. What’s up?”
“I’m going to a friend’s house for dinner with Mommy tonight. You should come too!”
She shot a look at April, then rattled off the address April had scribbled on a piece of paper.
Brody told his driver to make a note of it right away. He didn’t even hesitate. “Alright, sweetie. I’ll see you soon.”
After the call ended, Carrie and April exchanged a quick high five. Carrie had kept her plan to invite Brody a total secret. More than anything, she wanted her mom and dad to get back together, and a dinner at April’s house seemed like the perfect chance.
Carrie already knew exactly what she’d do. After dinner, she and April would go play somewhere else, making sure her parents had to stay behind together. That way, they’d have no choice but to spend time alone.
As the sun set, Nelly arrived early at Nicholas’s villa. When she saw the address Carrie sent, she recognized it right away. This was Nicholas Watson’s house. So April was his daughter.
That news took Nelly by surprise, but suddenly everything made sense. No wonder she’d thought April looked so much like Finn when they first met. The family resemblance was impossible to miss. She also remembered, the last time she visited Nicholas’s house with Jonah, she heard a familiar voice somewhere in the background. That must have been April.
