Brenda glanced down at what she was holding, then looked at James, who had already finished his undercover transformation. “You’re really sure no one’s going to recognize you?”

James grinned. “What’s there to worry about? I’m serving up a little justice.”

Brenda shot him a thumbs-up. “Just for that, you and I are officially friends.”

James’s smile turned into a smirk. “Right back at you.”

They pushed open the door. Helene was lounging in bed, scrolling through her phone. She looked a lot better than before. Her injuries might have hurt, but they weren’t serious. With all the Fortner family’s money, she had the best medical care and a team of three maids waiting on her hand and foot. It honestly looked less like a hospital stay and more like a luxury vacation.

Raine was there too, sitting beside the bed with a furious look on her face. “That bitch Madeline is unbelievable. How could she hurt you like this? Her bastard kid can’t even compare to you, Helene. She’s just—”

Helene looked suspicious and glanced at the buckets. “What’s in those buckets?”

“We heard you lost a lot of blood, so we brought you a special delivery.”
