Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 325

Madeline’s heart raced as she ran after Noah, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t catch up. “Noah, please, don’t go! Noah, come back! Noah…” He turned and looked at her, a faint smile on his lips, then walked away without another word. Madeline lunged forward, desperate to reach him, but stumbled and crashed to the ground.

By the time she looked up, Noah had vanished. In his place stood Oliver, but he was fading, too, slipping away as if he were made of smoke. Tears welled up in Madeline’s eyes. She called out, her voice shaking, “No, don’t go. Noah, Oliver…” She scrambled to her feet, but thick white fog rose all around, swallowing everything. She spun around, searching, her panic growing. She couldn’t find either of her boys. “Noah! Oliver!”

Madeline jolted awake, sitting straight up in bed. Her whole body was slick with sweat, her breath coming out in ragged gasps. Her eyes stared blankly into the room, terror still clinging to her. The dream had felt so real, so vivid, that waking up left her teetering on the edge of breaking down.

“Madeline.” Brenda was already at her side, leaving whatever she’d been doing behind. She reached out gently, her voice soft and worried. “Are you okay? Did you have a nightmare?”

Madeline gripped Brenda’s hand like it was the only thing keeping her grounded. “Where’s Noah? Where’s Oliver?”

“Noah’s still in the ICU. Oliver’s right here beside you.” Brenda spoke fast, trying to calm her.

Madeline turned her head and saw the little boy curled up next to her, fast asleep. Relief crashed over her, letting her heart settle for the first time since she’d woken up. “Noah?”

“He’s fine, too. Julian is watching him outside the ICU,” Brenda reassured her quickly.

Madeline pressed a shaky hand to her chest, feeling the tightness ease a little. It was just a dream. Thank God.

“Want some water?” A hand appeared next to her, holding out a glass. The gesture was almost casual, but the fingers were elegant, the grip steady.

She looked up and saw James. “Why are you here?”

“We were supposed to sign the contract yesterday. You didn’t show,” James replied, his voice cool and even.

Brenda jumped in before Madeline could say anything. “He kept pressuring me until I told him where you were.”
