Liliana felt a growing sense of agitation. It was as if she couldn't breathe properly. Her hands and feet were cold and numb, her limbs stiff. Her mind was foggy, and even taking a breath felt like a struggle. She paused, then looked at Helena with a serious expression.
"Helena, I think you're right. I really need to see a therapist. I feel like... I might be getting depressed."
...
When Liliana got home, she found Gabriel waiting for her on the sofa. Hearing the noise from the entryway, Gabriel, who had been focused on his iPad, looked up. His voice was as cool and clear as a mountain spring.
"You're back. Perfect timing. I'm planning to officially announce the company's launch today. I need you to think of a name."
Liliana stopped in her tracks. "So soon?"
Gabriel's expression softened. He stood up, walked over to her, and gently ruffled her hair.
"When you want something, I make sure to get it for you as quickly as possible," he said with a smile.
Gabriel could see that Liliana had been in low spirits recently. He had been working around the clock, pulling all-nighters to get the company set up for her, hoping that having something to focus on would lift her spirits and make her happy again.
Liliana looked at him gratefully.
Her nose stung, and she threw her arms around him, burying her face in his broad, warm chest.
"Thank you, brother..." she whimpered.
"You're the only one who's good to me."
"Silly girl."
Gabriel's cool eyes filled with a pained tenderness as he held her.
"Whatever you need, just tell me. I'd even find a way to pluck the stars from the sky for you."
Liliana knew he was just trying to comfort her. She managed a small smile, not wanting him to worry too much.
