Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 46

"Don't misunderstand…"

"Misunderstand what?"

Liliana hadn't planned on engaging with him. But she wasn't going to let him preemptively accuse her of something.

She laughed mockingly. "Are you a mind reader? How do you know I'm misunderstanding anything?"

Liliana was finally starting to see why everyone always thought she was the one being unreasonable, why they always sympathized with Linton and Isabella. Every time something like this happened, before she could even say a word, Linton would jump in and claim it was a misunderstanding, making it seem like she was the one who was about to fly off the handle and make a scene.

But a lot of the time, that wasn't what she was thinking at all. She could actually be quite oblivious. It was often his words that planted the idea in her head in the first place.

Then Isabella would add fuel to the fire, and her anger would spiral, ending in a fight.

If he just kept his mouth shut, nothing would happen. She probably wouldn't have even thought twice about it.

Liliana crossed her arms, a leisurely smile playing on her lips. "Since you think I'm misunderstanding, you must know exactly what I'm thinking."

"Why don't you tell me? What went through my mind when I saw you all here in the hospital?"

Linton's eyes narrowed. He opened his mouth to speak, but Liliana beat him to it.

Her vibrant red lips curled as she enunciated each word with cold precision. "I was just thinking: a scumbag and a bitch. A match made in heaven. I wish you a hundred years of happiness."

"I was wishing you well," Liliana said, her smile widening. "That's no misunderstanding. Don't you dare accuse me, or I'll sue you for slander."

Linton's face instantly turned several shades colder. His sharp, handsome features were expressionless, making it impossible to tell if he was angry.

Isabella's eyes began to well up with tears. "Liliana, that's too far!" she retorted. "How could you say that about me and him!"

Her voice was so agitated that Logan, who had been resting quietly in Linton's arms with a cooling patch on his forehead, suddenly threw his head back and started wailing.
