Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 39

A bone-deep chill spread through Liliana.

It seeped into her limbs, making her shiver uncontrollably. A profound sense of despair washed over her. She stared at the report in Linton's hand, her mind a complete blank except for a single, repeating thought.

It's over.

If Linton found out she was pregnant… then she was truly, completely finished.

Linton noticed her distress and rushed to her side. He placed his large, warm hand on her forehead and frowned.

“That's strange. The fever's gone.”

“Liliana, are you feeling unwell somewhere else? Tell the doctor.” His reaction was perfectly normal.

He didn't seem like someone who had just discovered she was pregnant. If he knew, he wouldn't be this calm; he would have already lost his mind. A sliver of suspicion remained, but Liliana still felt a wave of relief. She subtly slid the medical report out of his grasp and into her own hands, then looked up at the doctor.

“Doctor, can you please make him leave? Just looking at him makes me sick to my stomach.” Linton's eyelid twitched. His jaw tensed, and his face instantly darkened.

“Liliana…” But then he reconsidered.

She had just recovered from a fever; her body was still weak. He wouldn't argue with a patient. Linton gritted his teeth, shot Liliana a deep, piercing look, and clenched his fists at his sides. He was clearly struggling to contain his anger, but he held it in.

Without another word, he turned and stalked out of the room, slamming the door so hard the frame rattled. He was clearly furious.

Only then did Liliana finally let out a shaky breath. She quickly lowered her gaze to the report. When her eyes fell on the words “Not Pregnant” printed in the results section, she froze, completely stunned.
