She replied with another voice message: “Alright then. Have Linton bring you back. Or if you’re hungry now, just have a little something to tide you over.”
Liliana slowly let out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding.
She had managed to deal with the medical report for now.
But this wasn’t a long-term solution.
The longer she delayed the surgery, the higher the risk of something going wrong.
She checked the appointment time for her abortion.
The earliest available was in ten days; there was no way to move it up. Crownport was a small world filled with prying eyes. Liliana was afraid of something happening right under Linton's nose, which was why she had chosen to go to another city. She had thought through every detail. She even considered that Linton might investigate later on.
After much deliberation, she had asked Helena to use her father’s connections to schedule the surgery with a friend of his, a director at a public hospital in another city. To be safe, she had requested the best specialist available.
While Liliana was lost in thought, Linton pushed the door open and walked in. His voice was cool and lazy. “Let's go. Your mom wants you home for dinner.”
Liliana jumped. She frantically locked her phone and put on a cold expression. “I know. I can get back myself.”
“This isn’t the time to be stubborn.” Linton’s eyes lingered for a second on the phone she had hidden under the bedsheets, a thoughtful expression on his face. But it was only for a moment. He quickly masked his thoughts and said in a low voice, “I'll take you.”
Liliana hesitated. She knew better than to overdo it.
Unusual behavior always raised suspicion.
She had been acting too strangely today. If she kept fighting with Linton, he might really figure something out. So, she just turned her head away and said with cool indifference, “Then get out.
I need to change.” Linton stared at her, then suddenly, out of nowhere, he said, “Liliana.”
