Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 15

Linton slowly lowered his eyes. He pictured Liliana’s stubborn, prickly demeanor. “Just leave it for now,” he said quietly. “When Liliana comes back, I’ll give it to her.”

He straightened up, not taking her resignation seriously. It was just another fit of jealousy. Once she calmed down, she’d be back. She always came back. This time would be no different.

Lucas frowned, hesitating.

He had a feeling Liliana was genuinely angry this time, that it was different from before. But then he thought, *I’m just an assistant. It’s not my place to interfere.* His eyes drifted to the proposal on Linton’s desk, and he sighed. He hoped all the time and effort Mr. Cooper had put into this wouldn’t be for nothing.

“Oh, and do one more thing for me,” Linton said. He settled into the leather chair behind his desk, resting his chin on his right hand, his cool eyes lowered as if speaking casually. “Rivercourt Manor is auctioning off new properties. Go pick one in a good location and buy it.”

“Yes, Mr. Cooper,” Lucas replied. He was a little confused, though. Why was Mr. Cooper suddenly buying a new house?

When Liliana left the office, she happened to run into employees returning from their lunch break. News of Isabella’s new position had spread like wildfire. As she passed two young women, she overheard them talking, their faces full of envy.
