“Come back home, Liliana. I’ll find a position for you at the Hart Group. Whatever you want to do, I’ll make it happen.”
As always, her brother was the one who truly cared for her. Liliana sniffled, finally feeling a sliver of comfort. But she had her own pride. “Brother, I feel like such an idiot for being so blinded by love, for spending all my time chasing after Linton.” The more she thought about it, the more she despised her past self. “I see things clearly now. I’m going to start my own company.”
Another pause from Gabriel. When he spoke again, his cool, calm voice was tinged with a rare note of pleasure. “Good for you, Liliana. What kind of company are you thinking of starting? I’ll have people help you.”
Liliana’s eyes shone with determination. “I’m going back to my roots,” she said firmly. “I’m going to start a luxury jewelry design company.” This had been her dream for a long time. Now that she had decided to leave Linton, it was time for her to be herself again. She clutched her phone tightly. There was no obstacle she couldn’t overcome. She had made a wrong turn, and she accepted the consequences, but she refused to admit defeat. If she had to, she would start over from scratch. She had more than enough courage for that.
…
After resigning, Liliana found herself with a rare vacation before her new company was up and running. With the free time, she was finally able to meet up with her best friend since high school, Helena Briarwood. They met at a bar, choosing a discreet table. Liliana got straight to the point. “Helena, what do you think? Should I keep this baby or not?”
