Jade's face froze. "Mr. Eddie, I—"
"Miss Lane." Eddie's tone sharpened. "I thought not interrupting when others are speaking was the bare minimum for manners. Didn't they teach you that at headquarters? Didn't your kindergarten teacher ever mention it?"
He already had a rough idea of what had happened today.
From the looks of it, Coco had been drawn into this mess by a few careless words from this "intern from headquarters."
Someone on his team being manipulated by the likes of her? That infuriated him.
Jade's face drained of color in an instant.
Had Eddie gotten the wrong target for his anger?
Shouldn't he be here to reprimand Celestine?
Humiliated as she was, Jade didn't dare utter another word.
After all, she might be from headquarters, but Eddie's authority as a manager far outweighed that of a mere intern.
Once Eddie saw she'd finally quieted down, he took a deep breath and turned to Celestine, offering her a deep, respectful bow.
Jade's eyes widened in disbelief.
"Miss Selwyn, regarding what happened during the interview—I'm terribly sorry for our poor hospitality, which led to such a mistake. Please accept my sincerest apologies."
Coco hurried in right after, still shaken. She quickly bowed to Celestine as well. "I'm so sorry, Miss Selwyn! I was completely out of line—I apologize for my rudeness!"
Eddie added, "I hope you won't let the actions of a few thoughtless employees affect Seabay's partnership with you, Miss Selwyn. We'll make sure this is handled fairly and seriously."
Their words left Jade reeling.
How could this be?
Why were they bowing and scraping, apologizing to Celestine like this?
What did she do to deserve it?
Eddie turned to the stunned Jade. "Miss Lane is from headquarters, so Seabay has no authority to discipline her directly. But everything you've done will be reported to the appropriate people at headquarters."
The moment his words landed, Jade collapsed to the floor.
"No, no, it wasn't me! You've got the wrong person!"
"Seabay doesn't welcome those who stir up trouble. Security, please escort Miss Lane out. She's not to be allowed back in without my express permission."
Eddie ignored her desperate shrieks as she was dragged away, then turned back to Celestine, apologizing again and again, his sincerity unmistakable.
