The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 71

Millie's mind went completely blank—a sharp buzz filling her head.

Without a second thought, she lunged forward, throwing herself between the kids and the danger. The bullet grazed her arm, tearing through skin with a burning sting.

Danielle's first instinct was to shield Niki. Pain shot through her own wrist, fiery and immediate.

When Danielle looked up, she saw Millie standing protectively in front of them.

Millie hissed through clenched teeth as blood spattered from her arm.

Raffy froze in shock.

Hurting the other kids hadn't been so serious—he knew how to hold back. But now, he'd actually managed to hurt his own mom. Fear seized him; he dropped the remote control with a loud smack.

Alexander's brow furrowed sharply. "Get the nurse. Now. She needs to be bandaged."

Millie shook her hand, trying to wave off the concern. "I'm fine. It's just a scratch. No need to fuss—I'm not that fragile."

Alexander shot Danielle a cold look. "This is the son you've raised."

Danielle almost laughed. Her son?

"I'm sorry, Mom... I didn't mean to," Raffy sobbed, tears streaming down his face. His voice trembled, and for a moment, it was impossible to tell which mom he was calling for.

He looked desperately at Alexander, his voice hitching, "Dad, I'm sorry. I won't ever do it again!"

His apology was earnest, full of tears—he truly sounded remorseful.

Alexander regarded Raffy with a coldness Danielle had never seen before. "Who told you to bring something like that to school?"

Raffy choked back a sob. "It was... it was Mom. She said I could play with whatever I wanted."
