The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 54

When Millie stepped out of the lounge, she understood exactly what Gian had meant.

He had no intention of working with her.

A dull headache pressed behind her eyes, and she rubbed her temples, feeling the tension. With her credentials and skills, she could easily start a company like Ninesky on her own. There was no reason for Gian to turn down a partnership—unless he simply didn't want to. The truth was, she just wanted his connections.

Liam, ever the observer, said, "I bet Kirsten and Danielle have been whispering in Gian's ear, telling him all sorts of nonsense about you."

Millie managed a wry smile. "It's fine. I'll call Davidson, let him know what's happening here. He'll have an idea or two."

Millie was brilliant in the lab, but when it came to networking and business, she relied on Alexander.

Kirsten was still fuming as Danielle all but dragged her away, unable to let it go.

"Why are you pulling me? I seriously want to go back there and wipe that smug look off his face!"

Danielle's lips twitched in a half-smile. "Are they really worth getting so worked up over?"

Kirsten rolled her eyes. "Says the queen of self-control! She even asked about the chief designer of the Verdphoenix X7. If she finds out that's you, she'll be floored."

"Come on, just show me around the company, will you?" Danielle said, brushing it off. She needed to get a grip on her new environment and hit the ground running.

Meanwhile, Alexander had just exited a meeting when Millie's call came through.

"Yes, I understand," he replied, walking toward the elevators. His voice was calm and measured. "How long has Danielle been gone?"

His secretary hesitated. "She left a little over a week ago, sir."

A faint, unreadable smile flickered across Alexander's lips, but he said nothing more.

Sensing his mood, the secretary stepped forward. "To be honest, Danielle's position was always… optional. When she was here, she mostly just created drama and made herself visible to you. The company won't miss her, sir."
