“Alex, do you trust me?”
He gave a slight nod. “Yeah.”
Millie suddenly piped up again. “Alex, who do you think will come out on top—AetherX Dynamics or Ninesky?”
Alexander looked up, fixing his cool gaze on her. “Whatever place Newsworld holds now, that’s where AetherX Dynamics will stand in the future.”
His meaning couldn’t have been clearer.
Right now, Newsworld was untouchable. No one could shake its position.
Danielle listened to their conversation, her expression unreadable, calm as ever. She clutched the stack of files in her hands and strode toward the door, walking right past the two of them without so much as a glance.
“Miss Crawford, you see old friends and don’t even say hello?” Millie called after her, a teasing note in her voice. “Now that you’re in charge of Ninesky, are we not worth your time anymore?”
Danielle paused and turned around. “Friends? You think you qualify?”
The words landed cold and hard, stripping away any pretense of civility.
But Millie was in a good mood today; she wasn’t about to let that rattle her. “Fair enough. I guess from now on, we’ll be competitors in the industry. Hard to be friends when you’re after the same prize.”
Danielle let out a soft, dismissive laugh, then turned on her heel and left.

Gian watched as Danielle got into the car.
“What happened?”
Danielle buckled her seatbelt. “Ran into them filing paperwork at the Department of Commerce.”
