"Alright," Alexander agreed without the slightest hesitation.
When it came to discussing their divorce, neither of them showed any emotion. It was as if they were just handling a bit of business—two strangers sitting across a table, ticking boxes on a form, moving through the motions of ending a marriage that had already crumbled in silence. Not a trace of sentiment lingered between them.
Danielle wasn't at all surprised by how quickly he agreed; after all, Alexander had never liked Niki. She lowered her gaze, flipping through the divorce agreement, eyes scanning the additional clauses at the end.
The first stated that, for one year, neither party was permitted to reveal the divorce to Alexander's family or anyone outside their immediate circle.
The second clause was even stricter: Without Alexander's explicit permission, Danielle couldn't disclose that they had ever been married, nor could she reveal the date of their separation.
If she broke the agreement, Alexander retained the right to defend his reputation, reclaim all assets and compensation, and even demand further damages.
Danielle couldn't help but find it all rather ironic.
He was clearly shielding Millie with everything he had—as if one day someone might expose her as the other woman. Yet, in truth, no one would ever question Millie's place; everyone believed Millie and Alexander were childhood sweethearts, lifelong friends. She could have stayed by his side under that guise forever, and no one would have guessed the truth. Danielle herself hadn't realized it until the bitter end.
Still, Alexander had left nothing to chance, covering every possible angle to protect Millie's reputation.
A man in love will go to any lengths to shield the woman he cares for—foreseeing every risk, extinguishing even the faintest spark of trouble before it can catch. But these clauses were more than just protection for Millie; they were a clear threat to Danielle.
She set the agreement down, her eyes frosty as she looked at him. "And if I refuse these conditions?"
Alexander gave a mild, almost indifferent smile. Taking a slow sip of his coffee, he replied, "Then I'll have no choice but to seek full custody of Niki."
