The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 147

When they stepped out of the meeting room, the staff outside couldn't hide their surprise.

To the newcomers, the issues they'd resolved seemed almost trivial, yet these same problems had stumped the team for ages. The contrast left the staff feeling more than a little embarrassed.

Manager Wright was the first to break the silence, showering them with praise: "I'm not surprised, Mr. Atwood. You really are at the top of your field."

After all, Gian was from the Blackwood Research Institute—he was bound to have some tricks up his sleeve.

Gian offered a modest smile. "Ms. Crawford deserves most of the credit."

"Ms. Crawford?" Manager Wright glanced at Danielle, his surprise clear. He'd assumed she was simply Mr. Atwood's secretary or assistant.

She was so young…

Manager Wright turned to Danielle, greeting her politely and offering a few token compliments. After all, she wasn't exactly a household name in the industry.

His words, however, drifted to Liam, who had just arrived and overheard the exchange.

"Impressive," Liam remarked, his tone laced with sarcasm. "Mr. Atwood actually brought you out to represent him—and even gave you a title?"

He couldn't hide his astonishment. Gian was a well-known figure; for him to be so easily swayed by Danielle was almost unbelievable.

Just goes to show: even the best of men have a weakness for a pretty face.

Danielle couldn't be bothered to respond. After a brief greeting to Manager Wright, she excused herself and headed to the restroom.

Liam rolled his eyes and turned to Gian. "Do you even know what kind of woman she is? Don't let her looks fool you."

"She's just stringing you along for your money, and you still gave her a position."

Gian's face turned cold. "Mr. Liam, I suggest you choose your words more carefully."

He was clearly standing up for Danielle.

Liam blinked in disbelief at Gian's stern expression.

He couldn't fathom that someone like Gian would fall for a woman's charms so completely. He'd already said enough by way of warning, but Gian stubbornly refused to listen.

Ms. Crawford? In the technical department? A stay-at-home wife working in tech? Who would believe that?

He figured Gian just gave her a fancy title to make things sound better—certainly better than "assistant" or "secretary."

That title would make it easier for Danielle to move in certain circles. He had to admit, she was good at reeling men in.

He'd underestimated her before.
