The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 1354

And she wouldn't have to cling to her delusional fantasies, or pretend to be the cool, detached friend in front of him.

With that thought, a faint sense of closure blossomed in Kirsten's chest.

It was like waking up from a painfully long dream.

At half-past eight, Gian still hadn't shown up.

Kirsten pulled out her phone, her thumb hovering over his contact name. She hesitated.

She wanted to call and ask if he had forgotten, or if he was deliberately blowing her off.

But before she could press dial, she snatched her thumb back.

What right did she have to demand answers?

She was the one who had asked for the divorce, wasn't she?

Kirsten smiled bitterly at herself, shoving the phone back into her pocket and looking down the street once more.

This time, her gaze held less anticipation and far more resignation.

Maybe he just didn't want to deal with the goodbyes. Fine. That meant they didn't even have to say a final farewell.

Kirsten turned to wait inside the city hall lobby when her phone suddenly buzzed.

It was Danielle Crawford.

Kirsten took a deep breath, forcing her voice into a cheerful neutrality before answering.

"Kirsten, how are you? My assistant told me what happened at the Atwood mansion yesterday. Are you okay?"

Danielle's voice was thick with worry, sending a rush of warmth straight to Kirsten's heart.

Leaning against the cold glass doors of city hall, Kirsten watched the morning traffic and managed a faint smile. "I'm perfectly fine, don't worry."

"Oh, thank god," Danielle exhaled in relief. "Where are you now? You just recovered, don't go running around. Stay home and rest."

Kirsten glanced down at the divorce papers in her hand. After a few beats of silence, she murmured, "I'm at city hall."
